LYBS’s student won the 2018 Waterloo Junior Math Competition.
Our school focuses on cultivating the personality and strengths of our students. In addition to daily campus study and activities, our school also provides opportunities for students to participate in various competitions at home and abroad.
 

Waterloo Maths Competition Winners.
 
The Canadian Senior and Intermediate Mathematics Contests (CSIMC) organized by the world-famous university - the University of Waterloo, Canada, received positive responses from the 9-11 students of the English Department of the Liaoyuan Bilingual School. Our students participated in two of these competitions in November 2018: CSMC (Senior) and CIMC (Intermediate). CSMC is for students in grades 11 and 12, and CIMC is for students in grades 9 and 10.

Recently, the results of the 2018 Canadian University of Waterloo Junior Mathematical Competition were released. Liaoyuan’s students performed well in the competition and achieved excellent results. Among the 49 participants, a total of nine students won the prize. Two of the students won medals (first in grades 10 and 11 respectively) and eight students received certificates. The above award-winning students ranked the top 25% of the global participants.
 
Let us congratulate the students on their excellent results! At the same time, we also saw the courage of the Liaoyuan’s students who dare to fight and dare to challenge.
 
Review of the Waterloo Mathematical Competition in 2018.
 
On September 29, 2018, 9:00 - 11:00 am, the CSMC competition in grades 11 and 12 and the CIMC competition in grades 9 and 10 were conducted. After entering the examination room, the students were ready for the exam and answered the questions carefully.

Our school is an active participant in the mathematics competition of Waterloo, with rich experience and outstanding results. In 2016, three students won the Certificate of Distinction of (CSIMC). In 2017, a total of 18 students achieved great success in the competition. Our school will continue to participate in the Fryer Math Competition (Grade 9), the Galois Math Competition (Grade 10), the Hypatia Math Competition (Grade 11), and the Canadian Senior and Intermediate Mathematics Contests.

Aiming to help students develop the pleasure of learning, cultivate their ability to solve problems, and create more opportunities for students, there are many similar competitions offered by the Liaoyuan. We hope that the students from Liaoyuan can take every opportunity and work hard toward higher and farther goals!

The Waterloo Mathematics and Computing Contests is a full-scale math competition in the Grade 7 to Grade 12 organized by the University of Waterloo. It is the official Canadian mathematics competition for high school students all over the world. The competition began in 1962 and a total of 210,000 students from all over the world participated in the competition. Students with outstanding grades will be nominated for recognition and recorded in the records of the Waterloo Competition. Due to its wide-ranging influence and strict standards, when applying for science and engineering majors in universities in North America, this achievement has become one of the important references for admission and scholarship.
